PANAMA CITY — Bunnies and colored eggs come together but once a year.

And this year, two egg-hunting areas will be cordoned off for children 5- to 9-years-old and a separate toddler section during Bay County Parks and Recreation’s fourth annual Easter Egg Hunt. About 500 people are expected to attend the event Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at H.G. Harders Park, 8110 John Pitts Road.

Two painted backdrops already are set up for Easter photo opportunities before one of the county’s largest egg hunts of the year.

“They can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and then go right next door and have their picture taken with Mrs. Easter Bunny,” said Janie Lucas, park specialist in the county Parks and Recreation Department. “So parents just need to bring their cameras and make some memories.”

The Easter Bunny will arrive at 1 p.m. to pose for photographs. Egg hunting begins at 1:30 p.m., with prizes for the child who finds a golden egg in each age group.

An Easter basket will be awarded to the older kids and younger kids can win a stuffed animal for rooting out the golden egg.

Real animals from Bay County Animal Services will be on-site and available for petting and adoption for a $25 adoption fee, and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Those who would like to volunteer in hiding Easter eggs can get more information from Lucas at 784-4065.
