PANAMA CITY — Forecasters are warning of a flooding threat as another round of heavy rain moves into the Florida Panhandle.
Three to 4 inches of rain are possible for Bay County, with other counties expected to receive 2 to 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee. A few spots may even approach 6 inches, and forecasters have issued a flood watch Friday as the system approaches.
With river levels already high — 15.79 feet and rising at 8 a.m. Thursday on the Choctawhatchee River at Ebro, with flood stage 13 feet; and 25.05 inches and rising on the Chipola River at Altha, with flood stage 22 feet — forecasters are concerned the current, relatively minor flooding could worsen.
The rain should clear out by Saturday afternoon.
