PANAMA CITY - Bay County Supervisor of Elections Mark Andersen said turnout has been steady at each of the polling places on Tuesday morning.

"They're showing up," he said. "There are no long lines anywhere though."

As of 9 a.m., Panama City Beach received the most voters with 130. Callway had 79 voters and Mexico Beach had 53.

"Each election has it's own life," Andersen said.

Andersen said the interest in Panama City Beach has been driven by the12 amendments to the city charter on the ballot. The amendments include allowing the city to take competitive quotes for projects up to $25,000 without advertising and being able to purchase goods and equipment for a project if there is a single a seller.
Panama City Beach does have one commission race in Ward 3: Skip Alford versus Josie Strange.

Callaway has three contested races: Thomas Abbott and Janene Melvin for Mayor, Melba Covey and Dennis DeLapp for the Ward 1 commission seat and John J. Malone and Bob Pelletier for the Ward 3 seat.

Mexico Beach has three council group races: Mary Blackburn and Gary Woodham for the group 2 seat, Tom Bailey and Tanya Castro for the group 4 seat, Bill McGlothlin and Jeff Tendler are for the group 5 seat.

Polls close at 7 p.m. Andersen is hoping to have some results posted on Bayvotes.org by 7:30.
