PANAMA CITY BEACH -- As Florida residents prepare to vote on medical marijuana legislation this November, a national organization will be in Bay County this week to host a workshop on the business of the cannabis industry.
The full day event, hosted by the Cannabis Career Institute, will be held at the Majestic Beach Resort in Panama City Beach to answer questions local entrepreneurs have about the new industry.
The Florida Legislature also recently passed the “Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act,” which allows for versions of marijuana with very low THC, the chemical that provides the drug’s high, to be prescribed to patients with cancer or chronic seizures or muscle spasms through a physician providing ongoing treatment. The amendment to be voted on in November would expand the range of debilitating illnesses that qualify for a medical marijuana prescription.
Students will learn about the rules, regulations and laws surrounding the cannabis industry, with workshops available for in-depth business planning, management details, legal discussions and more.
