CALLAWAY — Interim City Manager Michael Fuller will bring four bids for water meter replacement to the Callaway City Commission at its meeting Tuesday evening.
The cheapest of the three bids, from Aclara, comes in at $577,910 but only replaces 6,000 meters, unlike the other three proposals that replace 6,140.
The bid from Mueller Systems is $1,621,207, the bid from Ferguson Enterprises is $1,206,625 and the bid from HD Supply Waterworks is $2,061,878.
The commission discussed the possibility of replacing some of the meters this year at its budget meeting last week, creating a three- to five-year replacement schedule.
The budget will be tight; the city will be forced to raise taxes from 2.5 to 2.77 mills to match revenue from 2013.
To add to revenue, the commission also will consider a resolution for a $5 stormwater utility fee for commercial, industrial, institutional, professional and master-metered establishments.
Commissioners meet at 6 p.m. at 500 Callaway Parkway.
