PANAMA CITY BEACH -- A 78-year-old Tallahassee woman who was unresponsive when a group of bathers pulled her from the Gulf of Mexico Thursday died of a heart attack, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Magdalena Simmons was discovered floating face down on the Gulf side of the jetties at St. Andrews State Park Thursday afternoon. A witness described watching her fall and get back up before she collapsed into the water.
