Education administrator named finalist for statewide competition

PANAMA CITY BEACH — A local elementary school assistant principal was named a finalist in a statewide recognition program.

Brooke Loyed, assistant principal at Patronis Elementary, has been selected as a finalist for the Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award, stated a news release from the office of Gov. Rick Scott.

The award recognizes assistant principals who have increased student performance, promoted safe learning environments and established successful partnerships with parents and community members.

From a list of nominations by school district superintendents, finalists were selected by state commissioner of education Pam Stewart via recommendation from a committee comprised of former winners and community leaders, the release stated.

Statewide top winners for both the Principal Achievement Award for Outstanding Leadership and Outstanding Assistant Principal Achievement Award will be announced at the state commissioners Summit for Principals in February.

At the summit, statewide winners will be awarded a cash prize of $5,000 for the top principal and $2,500 for the top assistant principal, the release stated.
