BONIFAY — Ryan and Aimee Hammack are no strangers to the area, but the couple still was surprised at the level of response they’ve received on the hometown attraction recently built on their farm.
The Hammacks have designed a fall venue for area residents to enjoy — complete with a life-size corn maze — on their farm in Holmes County.
“We have 11 schools already booked for the month of October,” Ryan said. “We didn’t know how big the response would be. We wanted to build something like this, and we didn’t even know there was a demand for it until we discussed it with the Holmes County Tourist Development Council.”

It started with a corn maze and grew. Now there will be a “super slide,” train ride, hay ride, corn box, petting zoo, playground area, pumpkin painting, mini-hay-maze and more.
“We started talking about it four years ago and thought it was a neat idea, so we found the right place, and we had the time,” Ryan said. “Shep Eubanks with the Holmes County Extension Agency helped with what type of corn to grow, and my wife is a Facebook guru, so she got the word out.”
The attraction will be open for a seven-week season, and the corn maze will look different every week so visitors can return and see something different. Inside the maze is a Facebook logo where visitors can have an aerial group photo made to share with family and friends.

Each new weekly feature will be announced on the farm’s Facebook page, where they will hosts contests and give prizes, such as a family pass to the farm.
“We want to make it as family-friendly and affordable as possible,” Ryan said. “Admission covers all of the activities inside, with adults being $8, between the ages of 2 and 10 being $5 and under 2 years of age being free. I want this to be a tradition for families to come to each year and be worth their time and money.”
Concessions will be available, and a convenience store will be open to purchase apple, pumpkin and other products.
