YOUNGSTOWN — Authorities believe a residential shooting in Youngstown late Wednesday was an attempted suicide, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Bay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident that started in a Youngstown home off State 20 near U.S. 231 during which a man shot himself.

A short time later, while a relative was driving the victim to a hospital, the two men got into an altercation at the intersection of 15th Street and MLK Jr. Boulevard, in the jurisdiction of Panama City Police Department, BCSO spokeswoman Ruth Corley said. The victim pushed the relative from the car and drove away, but was stopped shortly after that by PCPD on U.S. 231.

PCPD was awaiting reports from BCSO on the incident and would not comment.

The man had not been identified. The nature of his injuries were not clear Wednesday, but he was in stable condition at a local hospital, officials reported.
