PANAMA CITY — The Bay High School Million Dollar Band is inviting locals on a trip back in time to the Roaring Twenties to help send the band to Chicago to perform in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade.
“They’ve asked us repeatedly to come back,” said Robin McNew, the band’s publicity chair. “Waiting four years, we have a whole other group of kids that have never been before, and they’re pretty excited.”
The band will host its third annual Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction Fundraiser on Sunday at Capt. Anderson’s Restaurant.
In honor of the band’s upcoming trip to the Windy City, the dinner’s theme is 1920s Gangsters and Flappers. Band students will be decked in 1920s garb and serve heaping plates of spaghetti from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tickets are $10 per person and buys a plate of spaghetti served with salad, bread, dessert and a beverage. Diners may participate in a silent auction to bid on items including one-of-a-kind art pieces, themed gift baskets and more.
Tickets may be purchased from any band student or by contacting the Bay band room at 850-767-4625.
McNew said the Million Dollar Band is grateful to the Patronis family for footing the entire bill for the event.
“They’re real patrons of the arts,” she said.
