WESTVILLE — The person holding a single winning lottery ticket worth $48 million had yet to claim the massive amount of moolah Thursday night, and owners of the store where it was purchased said it would be impossible to determine the lucky customer.
Florida Lottery officials said one ticket matched all six Florida Lotto numbers Wednesday to win a jackpot of $48 million. The winning ticket was purchased at Stateline Liquors, 1065 Highway 179 A in Westville. But because of the type of ticket bought by the unidentified customer and the amount of store traffic, the operators of the store could not pin down who bought the ticket or when.
“We don’t know who the person was,” said Mona Joshi, Stateline Liquors’ owner. “We won’t know until they come in here to cash it or go to Tallahassee.”
According to Joshi, the customer bought a ticket worth 50 draws; so they could have come in within the past 25 weeks, she said. Also, the store sees its fair share of foot traffic to further conceal the buyer’s identity.
According to the Florida Lottery website, the store will earn a commission from the winning ticket but that amount was also a mystery to Joshi.
“I have no idea,” Joshi said. “The (Florida Lottery) commission has not contacted me.”
The lucky winner was the only person in the state to select all six correct numbers: 13-16-17-26-39-41. A total of 26 tickets matched five numbers to win $5,241.50 each; 1,482 tickets matched four numbers for $72 each; and 30,434 tickets matched three numbers for $5 each.
