PANAMA CITY — Friends of a local 21-year-old woman are inviting the community’s help after the stay-at-home mother of two was paralyzed in a Panama City wreck.
Friends of Kandeana Taylor, 21, have set up two fundraising mechanisms after the Lynn Haven mother of two suffered paralyzing injuries in a November wreck.
The group will be hosting a “Cookout for Kandeana” on Dec. 14 and have set up a gofundme.com account to raise funds to contribute to her accumulating medical bills. Organizers also are hoping the attention will increase Taylor’s odds of overcoming her severe injuries.
“Doctors are 99.9 percent sure she will never walk again, but there is still hope,” said Dustie Blackerby. “We are praying for a miracle. People prove doctors wrong everyday.
“With the attitude Kandeana has, she will overcome this and make sure she does prove the doctors wrong. ... I know she will,” Blackerby added.
The cookout fundraiser will be Dec. 14 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Twisted Suspension, 512 W. 23rd St. Her gofundme account, at http://www.gofundme.com/hpw274, had 371 shares by Wednesday evening and $630 in donations toward a $10,000 goal.
Taylor was paralyzed from the chest down, her friends reported, after an early morning wreck on Nov. 22. With the looming probability of her never being able to play with her two infant boys, Raven Nicole Rowland — a friend who set up the gofundme account — is not only looking for financial help, but also divine providence.
“She is a strong girl and will make it through this nightmare,” Rowland said. “If you can help by saying a prayer or donating to help her family with medical bills or anything — they may need it — would be greatly appreciated.”
