PANAMA CITY — A seminar and open enrollment fair for health insurance and the federal Affordable Care Act will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital, 1940 Harrison Ave, Panama City.
The open enrollment fair, which will be hosted by representatives of Florida Health Connector, Inc., and Florida Blue, will answer common questions about the health insurance marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act. The seminar will address how the new health reforms work, tax credits, the various health care plans created by the ACA, and enrollment procedures.
Under the new law, people may receive tax credits, which can be applied directly to their monthly health insurance premiums, provided that their income is between $11,670 and $46,680 for individuals and up to $95,400 for a family of four. Additional subsidies reduce deductibles, co-payments and total out-of-pocket expenses for people with incomes of up to 250 percent of the poverty level, or about $29,000.
Further information about the seminar is available from Kelly Isidore, business office director at Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital at 850-532-6501.
