TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE — After a three-year absence, the Gulf Coast Salute Air Show will return next year.

Base officials announced Friday the show dates will be April 11-12, and will be highlighted by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

The air show is a longstanding tradition in Bay County, but the 2012, 2013 and 2014 shows were canceled. Tyndall officials said in December 2012, they made the decision to stop planning for the event after careful review and consideration of fiscal responsibility of taxpayer dollars and mission requirements.

Through the years, the show previously had been canceled some years for various reasons.

Joining the Thunderbirds for the two-day event will be the U.S. Army Golden Knights, as well as numerous other ground displays and aerial attractions. There will be plenty of food, games and attractions to make this year’s air show the best ever.

Maj. Gregory Preisser, 2015 Gulf Coast Salute chairman, said he promises a fantastic show for all who attend.

“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to the 2015 Gulf Coast Salute,” he said. “This year’s show promises to be a diverse show which should fascinate spectators of all ages. We are looking forward to opening the gates at Tyndall and showing off our mission and our team.”

Admission and parking for the show will be free and security will be emphasized: no coolers (unless needed for medical reasons), pets, weapons, knives, glass bottles or containers will be allowed.
