SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield City Commission will consider a possible fine for residents who require consistent attention from Bay County Animal Control at its workshop meeting noon on Monday.
At a previous meeting on Dec. 1, Mayor Ralph Hammond said the cost for Animal Control has increased, with a recent quarter cost of $26,817. Hammond added that the city does not have a problem with the contract with animal control. In June 2013, the commission did discuss ending the contract with Bay County because of $80,000 worth of annual costs.
The commission will have two items that they will vote on in a special call meeting, a replacement vehicle for the police department and a phone system replacement. The commission budgeted about $30,000 for police vehicles but the commission recently announced a surplus of $1 million.
