LYNN HAVEN — Plans for a possible apartment complex proceeded through the city’s meeting Tuesday.

City commissioners heard the first reading for a land use change of about 40 acres at the northeast corner of Jenks Avenue and State 390. Applicant, PFP One Inc., is requesting a designation of mixed use from low-density residential.

“In the future they would like to put some apartments on there but they would also like to put commercial,” said Amanda Richard, planning director.

Specific development plans were not available during the meeting. However, members of the planning board approved the change during their December meeting.

Only about 20 acres would be developable because half is wetlands, Richard said, cutting the property in half. Staff also received a letter from the Florida Department of State recommending a survey be conducted to locate any archaeological or historical resources that might be on the grounds.

Also Tuesday, commissioners approved a development order for a medical office between Baldwin Rowe Townhomes and Centennial Bank on Baldwin Road.

Nash Realty sought the development order for the endocrinologist offices of Sherief Kamel. The city placed a conditional acceptance on the construction until developers receive stormwater, water and sewer permits, as well as Bay County right-of-way permits.

Commissioners also scheduled a workshop for Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. to review applicants for the city manager position and reduce the number from 14 to five or six.

The commission Tuesday also approved:

  • Three patrol police vehicles from Auto Nation Chrysler Dodge for $70,227.
  • Equipment for the patrol vehicles consisting of lights, sirens, radios, etc. from Dana Safety Supply Inc. for $25,418.
  • Additional stormwater monitoring wells for $11,160.
