PANAMA CITY — The annual Martin Luther King Jr. March in Panama City started at the Bay County Courthouse, went down Fourth Street and crossed U.S. 98, and came back around to end where it started.
Along the way there was singing of “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around” and “When The Saints Go Marching In,” prayer, and conversations between those who participated.
The event drew out young and old, crossing different racial and ethnic lines, all guided by the Panama City Police Department and Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Several drivers in traffic slowed and stopped, gazing at the sight. Some waved. A few people gathered on the sidewalk near Steele Boys Plaza.
At times the crowd was told by the police to keep to one lane of traffic.
“I should be there with y’all,” said one driver as he poked his head from his car window.
As the march got back to the courthouse one marcher said she is glad to finish. There is a round of applause for the march’s end.
The final song was “We Shall Overcome.”
