SPRINGFIELD — Based on its existing ordinance, Springfield will follow Bay County’s change to alcohol sales times during March.
The Springfield City Commission will discuss the ordinance at its meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Bay County and Panama City Beach modified sales times during Spring Break to prohibit the sale of alcohol after 2 a.m. In Springfield, the only bars are Chap’s across from the paper mill and The Waterhole on Transmitter Road, although the ordinance would affect convenience stores as well.
“It’s not a big deal,” Springfield City Clerk Lee Penton said.
The commission also will discuss Animal Control, specifically what the response from Bay County is on the high bill the city received in the fourth quarter of 2014. Although the city had discussed measures such as filtering all animal control calls to the city to reduce responses from Bay County, Penton said there will be no action Monday. He added that any future action by the city would happen in concert with Bay County Animal Control.
