LYNN HAVEN — Lynn Haven earned a bid from Panhandle Engineering that should save the city more than $40,000.
The Florida Department of Transportation is requiring Lynn Haven to pay engineering costs related to relocate and adjust water and sewer utilities for the expansion of State 390 from two lanes to six lanes. FDOT estimated this to cost about $140,000 as a part of its engineering contract before the city’s meeting on Feb. 24. Panhandle Engineering, which serves as the city’s engineer, has proposed to perform the same scope of engineering work for $99,975.
At a meeting Tuesday, the city also will consider applying for a grant with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission of $95,000 for Porter Park, with a matching cost of $25,000. Planned renovations for the park include boat ramps, docks, restrooms, seawall and parking lot. The Porter Park project is in the running for $450,000 of RESTORE funding, one of 22 projects vying for $11 million. However, RESTORE funds may not be allocated until 2016.
The Lynn Haven City Commission meets 4 p.m. Tuesday.
