MARIANNA -- State 71 traffic between Malloy Plaza Road and the TA Truck Stop in Jackson County shifted to the northbound lanes around 3 p.m. Friday, the Florida Department of Transportation said.
The northbound lanes will be transitioned to handle two-way traffic in preparation for concrete reconstruction work. Once work begins on the east side of the State and the Whitetail Drive intersection, motorists seeking to access Whitetail Drive will utilize Malloy Plaza Road and Trailer Park Drive. Temporary traffic signal are activated at the I-10 eastbound and westbound ramps to assist with traffic flow through the interchange. Additional signs are placed along the temporary detour route to assist motorists with directions to local businesses located off east Whitetail Drive.
This work is part of the ongoing $8.5 million project to resurface S.R. 71 from the Calhoun County line to Magnolia Road. Major work includes concrete reconstruction between Malloy Plaza and the TA Truck Stop. Construction is slated for completion in fall 2014.
