Deer Point reservoir drawdown complete

SOUTHPORT -- The Deer Point reservoir drawdown has finished and water levels will now begin to rise.

Generally every year Bay County drops the reservoir level to a depth of 2-3 feet, allowing the cold weather to kill off the unwanted vegetation in and around the water’s edge.

The drawdown usually lasts 45 days and Friday marked the 45^th day, according to a county email.

The reservoir level will begin to increase, so it can reach its normal 5-foot depth.
