CRESTVIEW – Crestview Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man, according to Crestview police.
Samuel Cornish of Crestview was found lying at the shoulder of South Ferdon Boulevard with a stab wound to his upper chest at about 7 a.m. Saturday, a police news release reported.
Witnesses said Cornish was walking along the roadway just north of Duggan Avenue when he collapsed from his injuries.
He was taken to North Okaloosa Medical Center but died a short time later.
The Police Department is handling the case as a murder and is still gathering information. As of 3:15 p.m., officers did not know where the stabbing occurred.
A person of interest in this case is in custody, but charges have not been filed.
Police closed off South Ferdon between Averitt Place and Duggan Avenue as they investigated the area.
