WIC office closes as checks turn to EBT

PANAMA CITY -- The office of the Women, Infants and Children Program in Bay and two surrounding counties will be closed for three days next week as an electronic benefits transfer (EBT) system is upgraded, a Florida Department of Health in Bay County news release states.

WIC offices in Bay, Walton and Gulf counties will be closed March 19 through March 21 while undergoing an EBT system upgrade, the release states. The system will go live March 24.

Currently, WIC uses paper checks to allocate food purchases and calls for all items listed on checks to be purchased altogether, the release states. EBT will allow foods to be purchase as needed.
