Register for voluntary pre-kindergarten

PANAMA CITY -- Children at least 5 years of age who will not turn 6 years old on or before Sept. 1, and did not attend a voluntary pre-kindergarten (VPK) program during the school year, qualify to attend free VPK this summer, a Bay District Schools news release states.

VPK will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from June 12 to Aug. 5. Registration for the summer program is underway at Tommy Smith Elementary School, 5044 Tommy Smith Drive.

To register, parents must provide: Social Security number, two proofs of residency, Florida Immunization Certificate, school physical form within the first 30 days of the summer program, a certificate of eligibility from Early Learning Coalition, 703 W. 15^th St., and child’s proof of birth.

Free breakfast and lunch will be provided, the release states. Parents must provide transportation. For more information, contact Bay District Schools Pre-K Office at 767-4201.
