TALLAHASSEE -- Another state Senate panel has signed off on a bill that would give honorably discharged veterans in-state tuition.
The Appropriations Subcommittee on Education passed the bill 12-0 Wednesday, the bill’s third committee stop. The measure (SB 84) would give military veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, National Guard and the reserves in-state tuition at state colleges and universities.
Co-sponsored by state Sen. Bill Montford, D-Tallahassee, the bill must pass through the Senate Appropriations Committee before it heads to the floor.
A similar measure is moving in the state House, as part of a veterans' legislation package. It cleared the House Veteran & Military Affairs Subcommitteeon Monday as a committee bill.
