APALACHICOLA -- The fourth annual Oyster Cook-off to benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department will be Saturday.
The cook-off will start at noon. Judging of the cook-off, and live music and dance, starts at 2 p.m. Contestants are encouraged to enter with their favorite recipe. All forms of oysters will be available to taste: raw, steamed and fried. Other food items and refreshments will be available for purchase.
New this year is the Half Shell Hustle Run, a distance of distance of 3,000 fathoms, or 5.5k, winding through the historic district.
Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Entry fees for individuals are $15, and for families, anywhere from two to five members, are $25. Each race participant will receive a canvas tote.
