Callaway pays city manager for leave

CALLAWAY — The Callaway City Commission approved paying $1,538 to City Manager Michael Fuller to cover 40 hours of annual leave time on Tuesday.

Fuller accumulated 294 hours of leave before being appointed city manager this past summer. The city’s policy was that city employees were required to forfeit anything over 240 hours of leave time amassed in one year. Fuller said he was too busy to take the leave.

The commission also discussed going to one meeting per month with a workshop a day or two before hand. Mayor Thomas Abbott said he wants commission meetings, which regularly eclipse three hours, to be more akin to a business meeting. Fuller said he will present an ordinance at the next meeting for one meeting a month.
