MEXICO BEACH — An international lodging company has announced plans to locate in Mexico Beach.
A representative of Wyndham and Tryp went before the Mexico Beach City Council recently to share a proposal and conceptual designs for a boutique hotel that, with city support, would bring 86 hotel units and 45 to 50 condos to an approved planned unit development area between 33rd and 34th streets.
The Tryp brand of hotels by Wyndham Resorts currently exist in quiet areas of Spain, France, New York and Chicago. If built, the hotel would be the only one like it in the state of Florida, a Tryp spokesman said.
The hotel would feature a public restaurant and spa and fitness amenities open to the public for a membership fee. The facility would bring 80 jobs to the area.
The council asked to see a site plan for the hotel before any further discussions took place.
