More than $400 worth of high-end electronics can be yours for the price of a value meal.
The grand prize for giveaways during the 10th annual Halifax All-Star Classic includes a VIZIO 40-inch LED Smart HD TV and a Sony Blu-ray player. The prep basketball event takes place on April 5 at the Billy Harrison Field House on the campus of Gulf Coast State College. The East vs. West showcase begins at 11 a.m. with the girls game and the boys follow at 1 p.m.
Those who purchase an admission ticket for $5 will be entered into the drawing for the HD TV and Blu-ray player, as well as other items throughout the day. Additional tickets may be purchased for $5 apiece. Those who are chosen must be present to claim their prize.
The VIZIO Smart HD TV is part of the new 2014 E-Series, which features a full-array LED screen to deliver a crisper picture and a slimmer body style. The device also has a 120Hz refresh rate to deliver prime viewing for sports and movies. The Smart TV technology has Wi-Fi connectivity and downloadable apps at the touch of a button, including Netflix, Twitter, Facebook and other popular news, shopping and weather sites.
The Blu-ray player also has app features and upscales DVDs. The device plays the latest HD discs to provide a fine complement to the Smart HD TV.
Prizes will be given away starting with the girls game, which traditionally features a slow-arriving crowd. The odds of winning are better during this time, but spectators are encouraged to show up earlier to enter the drawing and support the group of fine basketball players in both games.
The HD TV and Blu-ray player package is in addition to other giveaways, which include:
- Two-night stay at LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Panama City Beach.
- $75 Walmart gift card.
- $50 Target gift card.
- 10 sets of 12 ride tickets to Miracle Strip at Pier Park valued at $40 each.
- Four $15 Nike Factory Store gift cards.
- New skateboard provided by Surfside Pawn in PCB.
- Three basketballs and water bottles provided by Hibbett Sports.
Halifax Media Group and its two Florida daily newspapers, The News Herald and the Northwest Florida Daily News are lead sponsors along with GCSC. Additional sponsorship is provided by the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, Dairy Queen of PCB and Lynn Haven, Tyndall Federal Credit Union, Beef ‘O’ Brady’s of Bay County, Domino’s Pizza of Bay County and Amavida Coffee and Tea.
Anaconda Sports and Baden Sports are again supplying MVP game balls for the top performer chosen from each team. And Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center is the sports medicine provider for the event.
Apparel decorating specialist Shelley Harvey is this year’s shirt supplier and has provided the more popular dri-fit moisture wicking material. T-shirts will be given to players and coaches and also will be on sale in the lobby during the games. Harvey will be on hand for screen printing for event shirts with a range of options and fees.
