PANAMA CITY -- A new report ranks Bay County below average for health outcomes.
The report released Wednesday is put together by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
Bay County ranked 48 of 67 Florida counties.
Other area counties and their rankings were: Franklin, 36; Gulf, 34; Holmes, 51; Jackson, 47; Walton, 46, and Washington, 66.
The report says St. Johns County, home to St. Augustine in northeast Florida, is the state’s healthiest county, and Union County, north of Gainesville, as Florida’s least healthy county.
The report determines health outcomes based on length and quality of life. The report also gives a separate ranking for health factors, such as smoking, high school graduation rates, employment, physical activity and access to healthy foods.
